The Sikkim Renewable Energy Development Agency (SREDA) is an autonomous body constituted by the State Government and registered as a societyon 5 th March 1999 under the Societies Registration Act 21, 1860. This agency was mandated with the task of promoting renewable energy, and to generate public awareness in facilitating deployment of new and renewable energy systems . SREDA also acts as the State Nodal Agency for all renewable energy programmes and projects in the State.
The agency was under the administrative control of the Rural Management & Development
Department until April 2016, when it was handed over to the Energy & Power Department.
